Your own Facebook nonprofit fundraiser
Did you know you can:
- Donate to nonprofit fundraisers or
- Create your own fundraiser for a nonprofit?
Facebook takes care of all processing fees. All donations are made to the PayPal Giving Fund, which receives donations and makes grants to donor-recommended charities.
Whether you hold a fundraiser for your birthday, Giving Tuesday or through a Story, UrbaNature welcomes your gift.
Here’s how you can set up a fundraiser for UrbaNature on Facebook
- First, log into Facebook on your computer.
- Look on the left-hand side of the page for Fundraisers and click.
- Look for the Select nonprofit button and click on it.
- In the search bar, search for UrbaNature or select UrbaNature if it appears at the top of the page.
- On the left-hand side of the page, type the goal for the amount of money you would like to raise. Make sure the currency is set to Canadian dollars.
- Hit the Create button.
- A screen will pop up with options that include inviting your friends to donate to your fundraiser, share the fundraiser in your feed or donate to the fundraiser yourself.
If you have a Facebook page, here are some tips on how to set up a fundraiser and manage fundraisers from your Facebook page.
You can set up the fundraiser either on desktop or on your mobile device.
- Make sure you’re on the settings for your Facebook page
- From your feed, click on Fundraisers on the left-hand side of the page (if you don’t see it, look for See more. Click on See more.
- From the Fundraisers menu on the left-hand side, click on Raise Money
- Click Nonprofit
- Tap the menu icon
- Then tap the Fundraisers icon
- Tap +Create Fundraiser
- Tap the menu icon
- Then tap the Fundraisers icon
- Tap +Create Fundraiser
Add details to the fundraiser
On both desktop or mobile, you can scroll to find UrbaNature Education or search for us by name.
You’ll want to include:
- The amount of money you want to raise and the currency (you don’t have to reach your goal for us to receive money from your fundraiser)
- The end date for your fundraiser
- A title for your fundraiser and the reason you’re raising money
- A cover photo for your fundraiser
Check that everything is accurate and once you’re sure, click or tap Create.

Share your fundraiser from your Facebook page feed
To share your fundraiser to your Facebook page feed on desktop or mobile:
- On desktop: click Share and write a post that shares a link to your fundraiser.
- On mobile: tap Share fundraiser and follow the prompts to share your fundraiser to a group, as a post, to your story or to WhatsApp.
